DESCRIPTION of the 2nd Shift Machining Production Supervisor:
The NE Production Supervisor is tasked with overseeing manufacturing processes, focusing on process enhancement and strategic planning for their department, while delivering necessary reports to the department manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Manage daily and weekly production targets to align with site forecasts and provide necessary reports to the department manager.
- Supervise manufacturing personnel and processes to ensure safety, quality, accuracy, efficiency, and timely delivery.
- Implement and enforce company policies and procedures.
- Ensure adherence to all documentation including routers, work instructions, quality procedures, inspection sheets, and relevant drawings.
- Support the company’s 6S and Lean Initiative Program while complying with safety regulations.
- Encourage innovative thinking to enhance efficiencies in work areas.
- Deliver flexible, integrated solutions to adapt to customers' evolving business needs.
- Collaborate with other teams to enhance processes and recommend solutions for improvements.
- Investigate production issues to identify root causes and resolutions.
- Focus on key performance metrics such as on-time delivery, throughput, scrap reduction, and overtime management.
- Maintain equipment and generate maintenance requests as necessary.
- Comply with applicable environmental, health, and safety laws and regulations, as well as company policies and accepted safe work practices.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- A minimum of 3 years of direct supervision of production staff.
- Self-motivated, organized, and detail-oriented.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Proficient in computer applications (Excel, Word).
SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Open-minded, adaptable, and committed to personal growth.
- Able to analyze and propose solutions to manufacturing processes.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic computer skills (Outlook Email, Excel, Word).
- Familiarity with lean tools.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering documents in various formats.
- Basic analytical and mathematical skills.
- Capability to resolve problems and manage diverse variables in non-standard situations through teamwork and communication.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, tooling, fixtures, equipment, OSHA regulations, and industry standards.
- Mechanically inclined is a plus.
- Familiarity with 6S principles is a plus.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
