Patient Care Associate

Under the direction of a registered nurse, the Patient Care Associate assists in clinical support functions to promote a safe and compassionate patient care environment.
Key Responsibilities- Carry out patient care plans as directed by a registered nurse.
- Provide patient physical care, including bed baths, toileting, grooming, and changing bed linen, per established guidelines.
- Perform patient monitoring activities, such as vital signs and blood glucose, per established guidelines.
- Prepare patients for meals and assist with meeting their needs.
- Perform patient rounds regularly and answer call lights promptly to meet patients' needs.
- Document patient care in a timely manner, adhering to established standards.
- Organize patient room clutter to maintain a clean and safe environment.
- Obtain and label specimens consistently with established procedures.
- Mentor and teach new nursing assistants to meet performance expectations.
- Complete additional department, organization, or network activities per established objectives.
- High school diploma or equivalent required, unless the candidate holds a nursing assistant certification.
- Recent experience and/or training in clinical patient care required.
- Enrollment in a nursing, pre-med, or physician assistant undergraduate program with a minimum of one semester of completed patient care rotations at the time of hire is preferred.
- Possession of a valid license, certification, or enrollment as a student in a nursing assistant, medical assistant, mental health technician, or EMT-accredited program at the time of hire is also preferred.
