Your Responsibilities

Role Overview: The Project Manager I serves as the primary point of accountability for the comprehensive execution of assigned capital projects, typically ranging from $1M to $5M, with the potential to manage projects up to $10M.

In collaboration with leadership, technology, maintenance, operations, engineering, safety, and quality teams, the Project Manager is responsible for the implementation of capital projects, status reporting, and optimal utilization of site teams and external engineering resources in accordance with established work processes.

Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Collaborating with the Project Sponsor and Divisional Engineering Director to formulate Business Objectives.
  • Leading the development of project objectives.
  • Working with the Site Engineering Manager/Regional Engineering Manager to devise project execution strategies and priorities.
  • Partnering with Finance to create a project economic model for justification and prioritization.
  • Providing leadership to ensure a cohesive team environment with clearly defined roles and responsibilities.
  • Engaging with high-performing teams from external engineering partners.
  • Regularly communicating with the project steering team to ensure alignment with business goals and functional direction.
  • Defining and analyzing Key Performance Indicators to meet overall project performance expectations.
  • Collaborating with Process Engineers/Manufacturing Technology to develop robust Basic Data.
  • Identifying appropriate design deliverables with the project team and engineering leadership.
  • Ensuring compliance with all necessary EHS (Environmental, Health & Safety) reviews and incorporating Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements into facility design.
  • Engaging Process Hazard Analysis experts as necessary.
  • Understanding the Front-End Loading (FEL) process.
  • Leading efforts to identify non-capital alternatives or lower-cost options, conducting risk analyses, and developing mitigation strategies.
  • Facilitating project gatekeeping reviews.
  • Collaborating with the Sourcing organization during FEL to align on contracting and procurement strategies.
  • Promoting the use of preferred vendors and supplier partnerships.
  • Ensuring site personnel are adequately prepared for commissioning and start-up of new facilities.
  • Aligning schedules with supply chain and operational needs.
  • Overseeing the safe execution of all field construction activities.
  • Preparing preliminary construction safety plans and applying relevant EHS standards.
  • Actively pursuing continuous improvement in EHS practices.
  • Leading Job Safety Analysis/Safe Work Permit development and conducting safety meetings.
  • Performing safety audits and tracking observations.
  • Conducting constructability reviews and integrating findings into scopes of work.
  • Coordinating with procurement for bid meetings.
  • Developing and maintaining construction schedules.
  • Managing contractor compliance with scopes of work.
  • Creating detailed cost estimates in accordance with Estimating Guidelines.
  • Structuring estimates using appropriate scope breakdowns.
  • Maintaining integrated project schedules and conducting critical path analyses.
  • Preparing funding requests and establishing baseline forecasts for expenditures.
  • Providing monthly cost control updates based on actual progress.
Preferred Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, or equivalent technical experience in Engineering disciplines such as Process/Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Bio-Tech, or Food Technology Engineering.

Certifications: OSHA 510 or equivalent; Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is advantageous.

Experience: A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in engineering and project management is required.
  • Strong understanding of the Stage Gated Model of Capital Execution process.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Demonstrated capability to lead and collaborate with diverse teams.
  • Familiarity with Autodesk, 3D modeling, and laser scanning applications.
  • Knowledge of automation and process control systems.
  • Proficiency in ECOSYS and SAP systems.
  • Understanding of manufacturing plant operations and departmental functions.
  • Knowledge of process equipment trains, utilities, and DCS systems.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods.
