Position Summary:

This role operates under the direct guidance of the Room Chef. The primary responsibilities include preparing food items, acquiring knowledge of cooking and baking techniques, organizing stock in designated storage areas, and maintaining cleanliness in workspaces and kitchens. This position serves as a foundational role, supporting the cook and pastry cook positions, while contributing to the overall production across all Food & Beverage outlets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Learn to prepare a diverse range of food items in accordance with the menu and business requirements.
  • Execute tasks as directed by supervisors.
  • Perform repetitive tasks with attention to detail.
  • Acquire proper knife skills and familiarize oneself with cooking and baking methods and terminology.
  • Follow standardized recipes diligently when preparing food for various venues.
  • Complete all assigned tasks efficiently and effectively.
  • Maintain clear communication with Lead Pastry Cooks, Lead Cooks, and Room Chefs.
  • Ensure a clean, organized, and sanitized work environment while adhering to health and safety regulations.
  • Oversee the cleanliness and organization of all food storage areas, including refrigeration and dry storage.
  • Keep all equipment, tools, and workstations orderly and free from clutter.
  • Work in accordance with established procedures of the organization.
  • Foster a positive and professional work atmosphere through effective communication with team members.
  • Contribute to team objectives and assist in achieving all tasks.
  • Perform additional duties as necessary.

Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

A High School Diploma or GED is preferred. Candidates should have at least six months of experience in a kitchen environment or as a Kitchen Steward, or equivalent experience. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and possess a clean background with no felony or theft convictions. Successful completion of a pre-employment drug/alcohol screening and background check is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Physical Demands:

This position requires prolonged periods of standing, frequent communication, and the use of hands for various tasks such as cutting, lifting, and cleaning. Employees may need to walk at a safe pace and occasionally sit, stoop, kneel, or crawl. Regular lifting and moving of items up to 50 pounds is expected.

Work Environment:

Work is primarily conducted in a kitchen setting, with exposure to heat, steam, and noise. Flexibility in scheduling is required, including availability for days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Extended hours and irregular shifts may be necessary, with work assigned across various venues as directed by management.
