Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Chemistry Instructor to join our part-time adjunct faculty pool at Kern Community College District. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a full range of Chemistry courses, including lectures, labs, and online courses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach Chemistry courses, including lectures, labs, and online courses
  • Develop and implement curriculum, including curriculum delivered via different modalities
  • Participate in student recruitment and articulation activities with local schools, colleges, and universities
  • Assess student learning outcomes and maintain subject matter currency
  • Use computer and multimedia technology to enhance teaching and learning
  • Participate in departmental, college, and discipline-specific professional activities
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Chemistry or a related field
  • OR - Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or Biochemistry and Master's degree in Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Chemical Physics, Molecular Biology, or Geochemistry
  • OR - Possession of a valid credential which authorizes full-time teaching of Chemistry at the California Community College level
  • OR - The equivalent
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching Chemistry courses at the community college level
  • Knowledge of curriculum development and implementation
  • Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
