Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Structural Integrity Assurance Inspector is tasked with supervising the implementation of the Quality Assurance/Quality Control Program. This includes conducting inspections, overseeing welding procedures, managing material receipt, performing audits, and maintaining documentation within a diverse metals and steel fabrication environment.

This role involves engaging in compliance with 'Code Work' and ensuring that all quality control documentation is thoroughly audited before submission.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure adherence to Quality Management Systems (QMS) and AISC certification standards.
  • Manage document control related to Quality Control and Welding.
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of construction codes and standards, applying effective quality control measures.
  • Interpret and analyze material and welding specifications as outlined in contract documents.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of welding procedures and welder qualifications (WPS, PQR, WPQ, etc.).
  • Draft Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).
  • Organize and qualify non-prequalified WPS.
  • Coordinate the qualification of in-house welders.
  • Prepare and submit job-specific welding packages.
  • Develop and manage project-specific QA/QC plans in collaboration with the project team, clients, and relevant specifications and codes.
  • Arrange for third-party testing and inspections, analyze results, and report findings.
  • Conduct in-house inspections to ensure compliance.
  • Verify fit-up and layout to confirm assemblies are constructed according to specifications.
  • Perform coating inspections.
  • Ensure comprehensive documentation is created and maintained, auditing records in the following areas:
    • Welder's Logs
    • Weld Rod Control
    • Welder Testing, Continuity, Procedures, Qualifications
    • Non-Destructive Testing (NDT)
    • Project-specific requirements
    • Certificates of Compliance (COC)
    • Material Test Reports (MTRs)

Qualifications:

  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) preferred, but not mandatory.
  • Proven ability to identify, analyze, and resolve issues effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and G Suite applications.

Communication Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.

Organizational Skills:
Ability to plan, prioritize, and organize tasks efficiently.

Team Collaboration:
Capable of working effectively in a team-oriented environment.
