Job Description

A NACE (AMPP) Level 3 Senior Coating Inspector reports directly to the Inspection Manager. The primary goal is to maintain and deepen relationships with customers to meet and exceed quality and service expectations. The Senior Coating Inspector may provide direct support to the Inspection Manager in implementing and executing the CSI Safety and Inspection programs.

Depending on the assignment, the Senior Coating Inspector may provide quality assurance monitoring of coating activities or quality control monitoring of other inspectors. The monitoring of contractors may be provided on a QC basis if dictated by a formal contract. The Senior Coating Inspector may also provide inspection and/or testing on critical and/or highly technical assignments.

The Senior Coating Inspector ensures that coating inspection and testing activities are performed and completed in accordance with project specifications and contract requirements. The designated inspection hold points established by the project specifications must be witnessed and properly verified. The Senior Coating Inspector implements the policies and requirements of the CSI IIPP and prepares and submits administrative documents and inspection reports.

The Senior Coating Inspector meets one or more of the following requirements:

  • Hold a current NACE (AMPP) Level 3 Certification
  • Hold a high school degree plus at least 6 years' experience as a coating inspector Level 2
  • Hold a high school degree plus at least 8 years' experience in the field of inspection and 2 years' experience as a coating inspector Level 2
  • Hold an associate degree plus at least 7 years' experience in the field of inspection and one year experience as a coating inspector Level 2
  • Hold a bachelor's degree plus at least 5 years' experience in the field of inspection and 6 months' experience as a coating inspector Level 2

As a benefit, the Senior Coating Inspector could hold an SSPC Protective Coating Specialist (PCS) certification, SSPC Protective Coating Inspector (PCI) certification, and/or NACE International Coating Inspector Certification. A Senior Coating Inspector may also be designated by a PCS. The qualifications must at least meet the requirements for a Level III in accordance with ASTM D4537-91 Standard Guide for Establishing Procedures to Qualify and Certify Inspection Personnel for Coating Work in Nuclear Facilities.
