ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Include, but are not limited to:

  • Collecting essential data for assessment and identifying deviations from normal to inform the physician.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:

  • Completes the collection of assessment data.
  • Assists in reassessing patients according to unit standards and/or hospital policy, as patient needs dictate, and reports significant changes in patient status to the R.N. or Physician.
  • Ensures documentation is completed 100% of the time.
  • Delivers patient care in accordance with established standards and the specific needs of the patient.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:

  • Gathers data from patients and their families.
  • Educates families and patients.
  • Accurately documents medication administration, treatments, collected data, interventions, and unusual occurrences as verified by chart review.
  • Administers medications as prescribed by the physician.
  • Performs treatments as directed by the physician.
  • Guides and assists ancillary nursing staff with assigned responsibilities.
  • Monitors IVs and blood for proper functioning and promptly reports any adverse side effects to the R.N. or physician.
  • Initiates IVs as needed and as ordered by the physician.
  • Performs all other assigned duties.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Preferred one year of experience.
SPECIAL SKILL, LICENSE, AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
Current Louisiana LPN licensure.
