Speech-Language Pathology Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Speech-Language Pathology Assistant to join our team at Plainfield School District. As a key member of our Student Support Services team, you will work closely with our Speech-Language Pathologists to provide support to students with speech and language disorders.

Responsibilities:
  • Implement treatment plans and protocols developed by the supervising Speech-Language Pathologist
  • Document student performance and report to the supervising Speech-Language Pathologist
  • Provide instruction in the use of augmentative and alternative communication devices
  • Assist with screening of students to determine need for intervention
  • Assist with assessments of students, exclusive of administration and/or interpretation
  • Provide in-service education to team members, as applicable
  • Perform clerical duties, such as preparing instructional materials and scheduling students
  • Conduct yourself ethically within the scope of practice and responsibilities for an SLPA, and behave in a manner consistent with the principles and rules outlined in the ASHA Code of Ethics
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of an Associate's Degree in speech language pathology/communication disorders, or post-secondary equivalent coursework, equivalent training, and experience
  • Understanding of typical childhood development, including typical language development
  • Experience working in a public school setting
  • Experience working with students with Speech-Language Impairment, Autism, and other exceptionalities is preferred
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and communication skills
  • Knowledge of technology, including Google Drive
  • Maintains the confidentiality of students and families
  • Ability to collaborate with teachers and staff
