Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to join our team at Travis Credit Union. As an Accounting Specialist, you will be responsible for recording and analyzing accounting data to ensure the accuracy of our financial statements. You will apply GAAP principles to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and provide consistent, comparable data to support budgeting, forecasting, and benchmarking.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and review financial statements, managerial reports, and regulatory reports in accordance with GAAP.
  • Complete assigned regulatory and internal reports, including CALL (NCUA) reports, VISA quarterly reports, FR2900 reports, ALCO, Investments, and TCU financial statements.
  • Act as a liaison across departments to identify process and workflow improvement opportunities that align accounting requirements with interdepartmental workflows.
  • Research and resolve outstanding reconciliation items or reporting discrepancies through transaction reviews and analytical methodologies.
  • Develop ad-hoc reports for the Board of Directors, management, and outside entities as needed.
  • Partner with Finance in developing and implementing cost analysis procedures.
  • Responsible for manual general ledger entries and reconciliations.
  • Perform review of trial balance entries.
  • Responsible for semiannual TCU fixed asset review; inclusive of a biennial physical inventory of all TCU branch assets.
  • Prepare various tax returns, such as property tax, member withholding tax, and vendor 1099 forms.
  • Depending upon experience, may serve as a resource to accounting staff for department training.
  • Keep current with accounting trends and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
  • Associate degree in Business and/or Accounting and a minimum of 2 years previous professional experience; or equivalent work experience.
  • Reports directly to the Supervisor/Manager, Accounting.
Compensation

Starting salary is commensurate with experience. In addition to our competitive benefits, this opportunity with Travis Credit Union has a range of:

  • Assoc. Accountant - Grade 11: $26.48/hour - $32.71/hour
