KMA HR Consulting has been engaged to manage this search on behalf of Maine Veterans' Homes. We are working with our client to find an experienced healthcare HR leader to join their executive team based in Augusta, ME.

Job Description

The Chief Human Resources Officer will be responsible for developing and executing HR strategy in support of MVH's mission. This includes ensuring that MVH's HR alignment, processes, and policies provide a strong foundation to meet organizational strategic goals, ensure compliance, and support the organization in delivering high-quality care to its residents.

The CHRO will oversee the full employee life cycle from applicant to onboarding to offboarding to ensure that all employees have a positive experience and understand MVH culture and values. This includes developing and implementing strong onboarding, performance management, and talent development programs that improve employee engagement and reduce turnover.

Key Responsibilities

  1. HR Strategy and Alignment: Ensure that MVH's HR alignment, processes, and policies provide a strong foundation to meet organizational strategic goals, ensure compliance, and support the organization in delivering high-quality care to its residents.
  2. Compensation and Benefits: Review MVH's compensation and benefits programs and make recommendations for improvement to attract and retain employees as well as support MVH's financial goals.
  3. Employee Life Cycle: Oversee the full employee life cycle from applicant to onboarding to offboarding to ensure that all employees have a positive experience and understand MVH culture and values.
  4. Organization Design and Development: Partner with the executive team and managers to develop an organizational strategy that optimizes staff contribution, supports manager and leadership development, creates efficiencies, and meets financial requirements.
  5. Staffing and Recruiting: Evaluate MVH staffing needs in the short- and long-term and develop strategies for building an external talent pipeline and developing internal staff for growth.
  6. Policy and Employee Relations: Provide support and guidance to HR Managers in navigating employee relations issues and ensuring the fair and consistent application of policies, while managing organizational risk.

Requirements

  • A proactive and responsive HR leader with progressive HR generalist experience including at least 5 years in a senior-level role.
  • Experience working in healthcare required. Experience in long-term care preferred. Multi-site, multiple care lines experience also preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience leading, managing, and developing an HR team that partners with employees and managers to deliver high-quality programs and HR support.
  • Experience developing, implementing, and maintaining competitive and cost-effective compensation and benefit structures in a multi-site organization.
  • Experience successfully leading organizations through change.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience selecting and implementing HR software and applications.
  • HR certification helpful but not required.
