Position Summary:
The Import Operations Analyst is highly knowledgeable in merchant import order protocols and systems.

Key responsibilities include assisting vendors and merchants in identifying the most effective strategies for import order logistics and ensuring that estimated landed costs (ELC) are accurately computed.


Duties and Responsibilities:
Analysis:

  • Maintains factors influencing ELC and offers recommendations to merchants to optimize costs.
  • Monitors ELC and communicates its impact on merchant margins.
  • Creates training materials for vendors regarding the import order process and associated systems in collaboration with the Import department.
  • Evaluates metrics to uncover opportunities for enhancing profitability through order management initiatives.

Import Process:

  • Identifies opportunities to enhance the merchant import order process, including ELC calculations encompassing duties, commissions, freight, and other cost factors.
  • Onboards, trains, and supports vendors in the import process and PLM system, acting as the primary vendor contact for all related PLM system inquiries.
  • Collaborates with the Import Department, Merchandise Process Analysts (MPAs), Vendor Relations, Supply Chain Initiatives, and Legal to resolve issues with existing or new vendors concerning order writing.
  • Maintains essential tools for merchants to utilize in the Import Order Process and supports user acceptance testing for system updates.
  • Works with IT to develop system functionalities that address business needs and adapt to evolving requirements.
  • Recognized as an expert in all import-related systems and supporting tools.

Collaborative Relationships:

  • Fosters and maintains effective working relationships among cross-functional team members (Buying, DCs, Vendors, MIO, and Supply Chain).
  • Exhibits strong communication skills in interactions with internal and external business partners, creating a customer-centric environment.
  • Acts as the primary point of contact for the vendor community regarding import order execution processes and systems.
  • Responds promptly and accurately to inquiries and issues raised by merchants, vendors, and MIO business partners.
  • Keeps individual, division, and company-wide goals in focus when making decisions.
  • Encourages an environment aligned with Burlington's core values.

Education:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.

Experience:
1+ years of experience as an Assistant Buyer or in a comparable role within another business.

Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills, focused on work efficiencies.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to frequent changes in priorities and processes.
  • Strong conflict management and problem resolution skills.
  • Ability to analyze processes and develop best practices for process improvement.
  • Capability to achieve high productivity and accuracy.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and follow through on tasks.

Physical Requirements:
Individuals may need to sit or stand as necessary. Extended periods may be spent working on a computer. Walking primarily on a level surface may be required periodically throughout the day.
