This role will ensure the efficient and cost-effective movement of products from point of origin to the final destination, while maintaining high standards of quality and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement global logistics strategies to streamline operations and reduce costs.
- Coordinate with suppliers, carriers, and third-party logistics providers to ensure timely delivery of goods.
- Negotiate contracts and rates with transportation vendors to optimize pricing and service levels.
- Monitor and analyze transportation metrics and performance data to identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including supply chain, procurement, and sales, to align logistics initiatives with business objectives.
- Work closely with the sourcing / procurement team to track inbound raw materials and estimate delivery to operations for use.
- Work with regulatory agencies such as the FDA and port authorities to enable the movement of product through customs.
- Stay informed about industry trends, regulations, and best practices to maintain a competitive edge.
- Manage customs compliance and import/export regulations to minimize risk and ensure compliance.
- Develop contingency plans to address disruptions in transportation networks and mitigate potential risks.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and reliability in logistics operations.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in logistics management, with a proven track record of success.
- Strong understanding of international transportation modes, including air, ocean, and ground.
- Strong negotiation and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in logistics software and systems, such as transportation management systems (TMS) and warehouse management systems (WMS).
- Must be highly proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, database management, spreadsheet creation, email, internet.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and compliance standards related to global trade.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Oversees the daily workflow of the company's largest suppliers.
- Provides constructive and timely feedback to improve performance to various stakeholders.
Physical Demands:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
Travel Requirements:
- Travel between company facilities within the Sacramento, CA area.
- May be required to attend training and industry events as directed by supervisor.
- Infrequent travel to customer locations or headquarters.
Work Location and Reporting Relationship:
- This position requires the candidate to be on site in Sacramento, CA daily.
- Work from home or remote work is not available for this position.
