Laboratory Technician II

About the Position:
We are looking for a highly skilled Laboratory Technician II to join our team at Hall County. In this role, you will be responsible for collecting and preparing laboratory samples, scheduling and performing standard tests and analyses, maintaining laboratory supplies and equipment, tracking and maintaining control of specimens, and observing safety rules for Treatment Services' Drug Screening Laboratory.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collects, prepares, and performs laboratory analysis of specimens.
- Reviews, records, and reports test results.
- Performs and records preventative maintenance and instrument checks.
- Follows safety policies and procedures.
- Maintains sample chain of custody.
- Collects and disposes of specimens for diagnostic testing.
- Performs laboratory-related clerical duties including filing, record keeping, entering data into computer database, and distributing test results to appropriate requesting parties.
- Checks standard laboratory supplies inventory to assure adequate inventory levels and notifies supervisor when orders need to be placed.
- Cleans laboratory working surfaces and disposes of waste in accordance with the department's waste management plan.
- Provides court testimony on drug screen results, lab policies and procedures, and client compliance when subpoenaed or as needed.
- Regular and predictable attendance is required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Work Environment:
This position requires working in a fast-paced environment under limited supervision, handling stress and emotion, concentrating on tasks, remembering names and other details, examining and observing details, making decisions, and adjusting to change.
Qualifications:
A high school diploma or GED is required, along with a minimum two years medical laboratory assistant experience or related field. Any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge and skills will be considered.
Salary Range:
The estimated salary range for this position is $45,000-$60,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
