Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive curriculum that covers key concepts in American government, including the Constitution, branches of government, political parties, and civic engagement.
- Facilitate discussions and activities that promote critical thinking, debate, and analysis of current events and political issues.
- Encourage students to participate in mock elections, debates, and other experiential learning opportunities to deepen their understanding of the democratic process.
- Assess student learning through a variety of methods, including exams, projects, and class discussions.
- Collaborate with colleagues to integrate American government topics into interdisciplinary projects and activities.
- Foster a respectful and inclusive classroom environment that values diverse perspectives and promotes civic responsibility.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Political Science, History, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Teaching certification or license in Social Studies or Government.
- Previous experience teaching American Government at the high school level.
- Strong knowledge of American political institutions, processes, and historical context.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
