Key Responsibilities- Establish and maintain a sterile field during surgical procedures, ensuring the highest level of patient safety and care.
- Assist the circulating nurse and surgical team in maintaining a sterile environment, adhering to strict protocols and guidelines.
- Assist in gathering necessary surgical supplies and equipment, ensuring timely and efficient preparation for procedures.
- Participate in sponge, needle, and instrument counts, working closely with the circulating nurse to ensure accuracy and attention to detail.
- Gown and glove surgeons and assistants, maintaining a high level of professionalism and attention to detail.
- Assist in keeping physician preference cards accurate and up-to-date, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration with the surgical team.
- Retain and transport all specimens to be sent to pathology, confirming source and name with the surgeon.
- Assist in the cleaning and reprocessing of instrument sets, adhering to strict protocols and guidelines.
- Pick and put away materials, supplies, and equipment, maintaining a well-organized and efficient workspace.
- Work with the team to remove outdated supplies from inventory, ensuring a safe and efficient work environment.
- Perform terminal cleaning of the surgical suite, adhering to strict protocols and guidelines.
- Interact effectively with patients and visitors, providing exceptional customer service and ensuring a positive experience.
- Use Standard Universal Precautions, appropriate hand hygiene, personal protective equipment, and safe practices to ensure personal safety and a safe environment.
- Assist with environmental hazard and infection control surveillance, participating in emergency preparedness drills and training.
- Follow all equipment and safety guidelines, using equipment knowledgeably and responsibly.
- Serve as a resource to other members of the healthcare team, providing training and mentorship to new staff and surgical residents/medical students.
- Attend in-services, conferences, and meetings as required, staying up-to-date on the latest protocols and guidelines.
- Communicate effectively and courteously with visitors, physicians, and their office staffs, patients, and employees, maintaining patient, physician, and employee privacy and confidentiality.
- Maintain designated certifications, such as CPR, as offered by the center.
- Act in accordance with the vision, mission, and business philosophy of the Center.
- Comply with Policies and Procedures, adhering to safety guidelines to ensure a safe work and patient care environment.
- Maintain a positive attitude and capable of multitasking and delegating as appropriate.
- High School Diploma/GED
- Completion of an accredited program in Surgical Technology (Certification required)
- 2 years of experience is preferred
We offer a Monday through Friday work week without call, weekends, or holidays, with primary hours of operation from 7AM to 5PM. We also offer a $5k Sign on Bonus and a dynamic and supportive work environment.
