Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Engineering Laboratory Specialist to join our team at Hardin-Simmons University. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing engineering laboratories for both academic and research purposes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee engineering laboratories for academic and research purposes.
  • Utilize conventional and modern equipment to fabricate parts or prototypes for academic and research purposes.
  • Facilitate and oversee the repair and maintenance of scientific equipment.
  • Support laboratory-focused courses, including instructing students on safe equipment usage and fabricating specimens for laboratory testing.
  • Train and certify students, faculty, and staff in safe equipment operation.
  • Be responsible for the safety, overall cleanliness, and proper operating condition of equipment and labs.
  • Supervise student workers who help in laboratories.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; or two to four years related experience and/or training; minimum of two years of experience in manufacturing and/or fabrication or engineering laboratory background.
  • Strong CAD and/or design experience.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be organized, able to handle several projects simultaneously, and be flexible regarding tasks.

Working Conditions:

This is a full-time, non-exempt/hourly staff position. A regular 40-hour workweek is required at minimum (plus occasional overtime). Occasional irregular hours and evening and weekend work and/or assignments beyond a 40-hour week may be required during peak season and/or to meet project deadlines.
