Position Overview

The Manager of Transportation Sourcing and Performance plays a crucial role in overseeing the transportation capacity requirements for the North America Operating Unit (NAOU), which manages a substantial annual budget dedicated to logistics operations. This position is pivotal in ensuring that the company secures the necessary transportation capacity while adhering to budgetary constraints.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the procurement of transportation services, ensuring alignment with both long-term and short-term operational needs. Manage the annual bidding process, ensuring comprehensive accuracy in lane identification and customer specifications. Make informed award decisions that support both financial and service objectives. Foster strong relationships with carriers, conducting regular meetings to ensure optimal performance and support. Facilitate quarterly reviews with key strategic carriers to assess performance and identify improvement opportunities. Conduct detailed analyses to uncover potential financial and operational enhancements. Utilize forecasting tools to communicate volume requirements effectively with primary carriers. Perform market benchmarking to inform sourcing strategies and support various business initiatives. Monitor carrier performance against established KPIs, addressing any deficiencies promptly. Oversee the implementation of Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) for carriers failing to meet standards, ensuring compliance with performance expectations. Provide dedicated support to priority customers to enhance service levels and minimize penalties.

Qualifications

A college degree is required, preferably in Supply Chain Management or Logistics. Advanced proficiency in Excel, including the use of formulas and pivot tables. Familiarity with MS Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook. Experience with Power BI for data analysis and reporting. A minimum of 3 years of experience in over-the-road transportation is preferred. Knowledge of Transportation Management Systems, such as Oracle Transportation Management (OTM), is advantageous. Strong communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with diverse stakeholders. Excellent organizational abilities to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
