Job Description:
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize the nursing process to provide care to patients in a multidisciplinary intensive care unit.
- Supervise and assign duties to nursing assistants; report to the Nurse Manager.
- Deliver professional nursing care according to established standards and practices.
- Perform all responsibilities and duties specific to the scope of service.
- Implement procedures and theories related to intensive care practice.
- Maintain accurate documentation of nursing care to ensure integration of information for the healthcare team.
- Complete initial assessments upon patient admission and develop appropriate care plans.
- Implement nursing interventions and modify care plans based on continuous evaluation.
- Ensure patient and employee safety by reporting and addressing safety hazards.
- Communicate effectively to resolve issues and provide feedback for professional development.
- Identify and address personal learning needs.
- Meet all departmental competencies.
- Establish good communication with patients and families through meaningful hourly rounding, bedside reporting, and use of whiteboards.
- Manage ventilated patients for early mobility and collaborate with the team for best outcomes.
- Assist with intubation, central line insertions, arterial line insertion, and care.
- Delegate patient care tasks and validate completion.
- Use critical thinking to evaluate overall patient conditions and act on changes in patient status.
