Job Summary

Phoenix Children's Hospital is seeking a skilled Physical Therapist to join our team. As a Physical Therapist, you will provide physical therapy services to a pediatric population, from neonatal through adolescence/young adulthood. Your expertise will be utilized to evaluate, program plan, and treat patients using various modalities, including exercise, neuromuscular reeducation, mobilization, heat/cold, taping, electrical stimulation, and ultrasound, tailored to the patient's age and developmental/functional level.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Evaluate and treat patients with a wide range of diagnoses, including neurological, sensorimotor, musculoskeletal disorders/delays, complex medical conditions, and trauma. Demonstrate knowledge of typical development and possess skills necessary to provide age-appropriate services. Utilize pediatric-based behavior management strategies and match diagnostic/therapeutic interventions to the patient's age/ability, using a framework of family-centered care. Establish appropriate treatment plans with age-appropriate, functional, and measurable goals with target timeframes. Obtain mutual agreement upon discussion with family/guardian. Implement patient's plan of care using treatment modalities as prescribed by a physician. This may include recommendations for dynamic medical equipment to maximize function. Perform patient/family teaching for maximizing function within the home/community and implementation of home program. Provide care as outlined in the Standards of Care section of the APTA and PCH Policies & Procedures Manual.
  2. Maintain appropriate and timely documentation in compliance with Joint Commission, state/federal guidelines, and CARF standards, including participation in Total Quality Management.
  3. Organize, coordinate, and collaborate with other disciplines within the hospital and resources within the community in order to maximize value and effectiveness of plan of care. Participate in and contribute to discharge planning, care conferences, school re-entry, patient and family education, and outpatient rounds.
  4. Build and maintain rapport within the department, hospital, and community, while professionally interacting with physicians, families, and hospital/community personnel. This includes preparation and participation in in-service training programs. Supervise and direct assistive personnel including but not limited to physical therapist assistants, rehab technicians, and students, providing input into their performance evaluations.
  5. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as requested.
