Job Overview

In this pivotal role as a Disaster Response Specialist - Community Resilience, you will be instrumental in enhancing the preparedness and resilience of communities in North Central Texas.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement training programs to raise awareness about locally significant threats and hazards, targeting disadvantaged communities.
  • Collaborate with emergency managers, community leaders, and local voluntary organizations to share information and best practices.
  • Create and enhance emergency response and evacuation plans, focusing on community resilience, climate change impacts, and vulnerable populations' needs.
  • Conduct equity surveys to identify the needs of vulnerable populations during evacuations and develop strategies to ensure equity.
  • Analyze data from risk insurance public surveys and create regional planning considerations documents based on the findings.
  • Organize workshops and table-top exercises to promote knowledge sharing and highlight areas prone to climate change impacts.
  • Host a two-day community resilience workshop to showcase deliverables, best practices, and areas for improvement.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in disaster response, community resilience, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with climate change impacts and the needs of vulnerable populations is a plus.
