Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled IT Support Specialist II (Hybrid) to join our team at the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles. As a key member of our Information Technology Services Division, you will provide technical support for our agency's computing environment, including desktop computers, laptops, tablets, printers, scanners, and other related hardware and software.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide first-line assistance for County and HQ operational problems with agency information technology systems and operating automated office equipment in a stand-alone, network, and/or mainframe environment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues/problems with desktop computing equipment and software in response to service tickets utilizing remote control access, face-to-face, and/or phone contact with employees.
  • Assess need and implement performance upgrades to computing environments, including installation of memory, hard drives, etc., to maximize operational longevity.
  • Collaborate with Service Desk, LAN/Server Administrators, Network Specialists, vendor support contacts, etc., to maintain computing operations.
  • Ensure instances of desktop equipment failure, repair, installation, and removal are documented.
  • Ensure desktop computers interconnect seamlessly with diverse systems, including associated authentication systems, file servers, email servers, computer conferencing systems, application servers, and administrative systems.
  • Provide Data Transfer and backup processing for desktops/laptops, external drives, peripherals, and mobile devices while following standard procedures for backup and reimaging.
  • May be asked to conduct research on desktop products in support of procurement and development efforts.
  • Works with management to order and secure desktop computing hardware and/or software.
  • Provides input in preparing, maintaining, and upholding procedures for logging, reporting, and statistically monitoring desktop operations.
  • Monitors desktop performance and provides performance statistics and reports.
Requirements
  • Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent plus four (4) years' progressively responsible experience in computer systems support work.
  • Completed courses in computer science or related field.
  • A valid Class "C" driver's license is required.
