Job Overview

The F-35 Software Integration Engineer will play a crucial role within the Weapons Integration Product Team (WIPT) for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter. This position focuses on providing software engineering support to ensure the successful planning, coordination, and evaluation of all weapon software-related tasks necessary for the integration and certification of the F-35A, F-35B, and F-35C weapon systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Plan, coordinate, and oversee F-35 aircraft and weapon integration software activities, ensuring adherence to F-35 requirements and best practices in software engineering.
  2. Collaborate with a team of F-35 Weapon Integrators to monitor and evaluate software development processes, providing technical recommendations to align with standardized practices and meet warfighter needs.
  3. Maintain oversight of software sustainment for all assigned F-35 Weapon Integration tasks, coordinating aircraft integration activities with the relevant roadmaps of the Weapon Program Offices.
  4. Track weapon software updates and provide insights on testing requirements for updated certifications.
  5. Review aircraft and weapon software documentation, offering engineering assessments and recommendations for certification.
  6. Participate in Joint Interface Control Working Group meetings, Program Management Reviews, Technical Interchange Meetings, and other status meetings as necessary.
  7. Review Developmental Test flight clearances related to software stores functional assessments and provide recommendations to the Government.
  8. Coordinate and engage in lab, ground, and flight tests, ensuring test plans and results align with data requirements.
  9. Prepare monthly contributions to F-35 Air Vehicle / Mission Systems briefings for leadership.

Qualifications:

U.S. Citizenship is required due to the sensitive nature of customer-related requirements. Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain program security clearances throughout their employment.

A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or a related STEM field, along with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in a Weapon or Aircraft Program Management Office, is essential.

Experience of 5+ years in integrating airborne weapons systems, including systems/software engineering, testing, and program management, is highly desirable.

Familiarity with the DoD acquisition lifecycle process and its relevance to assigned weapon systems is necessary.

Knowledge of fighter aircraft weapons, practices, and policies is preferred.

Strong analytical skills to gather and assess various weapons program information, coupled with the ability to communicate effectively with senior military and government leadership, are critical.

Excellent briefing, interpersonal, and diplomatic skills are required.

Travel may be necessary 1-2 times per month, with each trip lasting 3-5 days. While foreign travel is unlikely, it is a possibility.

Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and TEAMS is expected.
