Job Title: Experienced RN - House Supervisor

OU Health is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to serve as a House Supervisor in our Med Surg/ICU department. As a key member of our nursing team, you will be responsible for providing clinical oversight and coordinating patient care beds.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Screen admissions for appropriateness of level of care orders and bed assignments.
  • Prioritize bed assignments for all admissions and transfers in the hospital.
  • Provide direction to physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff as it relates to Bed Management.
  • Escalate medical necessity and admissions status issues through the established chain of command.
  • Act as a liaison between physicians, patient/family, hospital staff, patient care areas, and outside agencies to promote efficient patient flow.
  • Facilitate daily bed management meetings and effectively communicate resources and issues to appropriate areas.
  • Track and trend barriers to patient flow.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and compliance of regulatory requirements, HCA Ethics and Compliance policies, and quality initiatives as they relate to Bed Management Services.
  • Serve as the primary hospital administrative official for after-hours business for all administrative inquiries.
  • Handle public relations matters and provide guidance to campus police as appropriate.
  • Serve a critical role in coordinating hospital activities in catastrophic situations such as fires, flooding, disasters, and power outages.
  • Resolve staffing problems caused by employee absences, inclement weather, or other problems involving bed shortages or serious staff behavior issues.
  • Coordinate timely response and related activities of emergency codes.
Requirements:
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing required.
  • 1 to 3 years of demonstrated leadership experience required.
  • 1.5 years of experience as an RN in an acute care setting, including at least 6 months of charge experience, required.
  • Current RN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or a current multistate compact RN License (eNLC) required.
  • Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association required upon hire.
  • ACLS (American Heart Association) and PALS (American Heart Association) required within 1 year of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of the principles of effective bed management in a hospital.
  • Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate services.
  • Ability to maintain collaborative and effective working relationships with physicians and healthcare professionals.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Analytical and critical thinking abilities with effective decision-making and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
