We are seeking a highly skilled Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator III to join our team at the City of Watsonville, CA. As a key member of our Public Works & Utilities department, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining our wastewater treatment and water recycling facilities.
Key Responsibilities- Operate and maintain wastewater treatment plant equipment, including pumps, valves, and control systems.
- Conduct routine maintenance and repairs to ensure optimal plant performance.
- Monitor and control wastewater treatment processes, including chemical dosing and sludge handling.
- Collect and analyze wastewater samples to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with other team members to achieve operational goals and objectives.
- Develop and implement process improvements to enhance plant efficiency and safety.
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field.
- One year of experience in wastewater treatment plant operation and maintenance, preferably in a supervisory role.
- Valid California Class C Driver's License and a safe driving record.
- Grade III Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Certificate issued by the State Water Resources Control Board.
This position requires working in a fast-paced environment with frequent exposure to chemicals, noise, and confined spaces. You must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work at heights of up to 20 feet.
