Role Overview
The Outreach Worker will embody the mission of Harlem Children's Zone: to disrupt the cycle of intergenerational poverty through comprehensive, community-based programs that empower children and families to succeed in education, employment, and life.

About the Baby College
The Baby College is designed to meet the needs of children aged 0 to 3, serving as a vital component of our early intervention initiatives. Our objective is to equip families with a wealth of information and the necessary support to nurture happy and healthy children who are prepared for academic success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Recruit new participants for the Baby College through community outreach efforts.
  • Evaluate client needs and develop tailored plans to address those needs, making appropriate referrals.
  • Investigate other organizations and programs that align with our goals for collaboration.
  • Communicate effectively, ensuring clarity and understanding in verbal interactions.
  • Engage with individuals in a respectful and professional manner, demonstrating sensitivity and tact.
  • Coordinate and refer clients to community resources and support services.
  • Document basic case notes accurately.
  • Perform additional tasks as required.

Work Schedule
Availability is required from Tuesday to Saturday.

Qualifications

  • A High School Diploma or GED is required; a Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and familiarity with the Harlem community are essential.
  • Energetic and capable of engaging in extensive walking; availability for some evening and weekend hours is necessary.
  • Proficiency in Spanish or French is advantageous.
  • Previous experience in sales is a plus.
