Recreation Leader

The Recreation Leader will be responsible for planning and implementing recreational activities for children ages 5-14. This includes leading sports, crafts, games, and field trips, as well as supervising children and enforcing safety rules and guidelines.

• Implement and supervise recreational activities, including sports, crafts, games, and field trips.
• Supervise children and enforce safety rules and guidelines.
• Resolve conflicts among children.
• Monitor activities within a facility and/or outside and provide information to the public on program activities.
• Respond to parent, school, or community concerns and issues and direct to higher level staff as necessary.
• Perform first aid as necessary.

• Knowledge of general recreation principles and practices.
• Knowledge of rules and regulations of age-appropriate recreation activities.
• Ability to learn recreation activities, rules, and regulations.
• Ability to respond to requests and inquiries from the general public.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

• Some experience with youth recreation programs or childcare settings is desirable.
• CPR and First Aid Certification or the ability to obtain within six months of hire date.
• Unofficial transcript indicating a minimum of 48 college units or more.
