Job Overview
The Strategic Planner will provide essential support to the Joint Modernization Command, executing tasks as assigned by the Chief of STRATPLANS and/or the Command Group.
This role involves acting as a Strategic Planner within the Strategic Planning Section, directly aiding the Command Group's communication efforts with both internal and external stakeholders. The planner will also be tasked with developing products that effectively convey the Command Group's messaging to various audiences, including Department of the Army leaders, Joint Services, and local community leaders.
Key Responsibilities
- Employs comprehensive military doctrine and operational experience to support the Army Modernization Enterprise.
- Undertakes special projects as directed by leadership.
- Facilitates liaison activities with external agencies as necessary.
- Collaborates with other team members to achieve mission objectives.
- Participates in the planning and production of key assessments and branding materials.
- Conducts research and prepares reports based on field experimentation insights.
- Coordinates the publication of newsletters and other communications.
- Develops high-level briefing materials for executive-level presentations.
- Manages products that enhance Command Group messaging.
- Attends meetings for synchronization and coordination purposes.
- Tracks internal and external communications effectiveness in partnership with the Public Affairs Officer.
- Prepares frameworks for strategic planning sessions as needed.
- Assists in managing engagements with distinguished visitors.
- Creates and manages topical briefings for various audiences.
- Maintains a historical repository of strategic planning products.
- Provides tailored inputs for senior-level reporting.
- Engages with local leaders to facilitate resources for engagements.
- Reviews and refines briefing materials and related documents.
- Contributes to In-Progress Review sessions to support key events.
- Develops content for organizational briefings.
- Coordinates across the command to gather necessary information and resources.
- Operates independently while implementing logistics disciplines.
- Travel Requirements: Up to 25% to various locations.
Qualifications
- Minimum of two years of relevant experience.
- Experience in Brigade level and higher joint exercise planning.
- Preferred graduate of ILE/CGSC.
- Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
- Secret Security Clearance is mandatory.
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Knowledge of Joint and Multinational operations.
- Familiarity with Army modernization processes.
- Expertise in planning and executing military operations and training exercises.
- Proficient in MS Office applications.
