Job Title: Archaeologist

Your Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist staff with report submittals and coordinate cultural resources fieldwork for various programs and clients, including archaeological survey, testing, evaluation, construction monitoring, and report writing.
  • Interact and interface with clients and environmental regulators to ensure compliance with regulations and policies.
  • Participate in Health, Safety, and Environment (HSSE) policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines in the execution of all work.
  • Assignments/projects are advanced in nature and require following the instructions of senior staff.
  • Responsible for planning and conducting assignments/projects having broad scope for independent accomplishment and coordination of difficult tasks.
  • Conduct or request records searches at CHRIS Information Centers, federal, state, and tribal agencies as needed.
  • Assist with permitting applications (Organic Act, ARPA, USFS, BoR, BLM FWAs, state, tribal).
Your Capabilities and Credentials:
  • Knowledge of archaeological survey, testing, and data recovery methods.
  • Ability to provide well-reasoned recommendations as to site eligibility and integrity.
  • Construction monitoring.
  • Experience with technical writing.
  • Capable of representing Stantec in interactions with clients, agency personnel, and Native American tribal members.
  • Coordinating with GIS staff, PIs, or project managers to collect and manage field data and forms.
  • Participate in Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines in the execution of all work.
  • Good driving record and valid driver's license required.
Education and Experience:

A minimum of a bachelor's degree (master's preferred) in Archaeology or a related field is required. No experience in Cultural Resource Management is necessary, but experience in California is preferred. This position is primarily field-based, requiring the ability to travel and conduct fieldwork for extended periods of time (1+ weeks). Fieldwork may include exposure to inclement weather and the ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs.

Some tasks may require typical office activities, including working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time.
