Job Overview

The Founding Middle School Manager of Specialized Services is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing and implementing high-quality, personalized interventions and services for scholars with exceptional needs in Grades 5 & 6.

This role ensures the effective implementation of Tier 2 and Tier 3 academic interventions, as well as the proper development, implementation, and compliance of IEPs and 504 Plans.

The Manager of Specialized Services will collaborate closely with the school leadership team to ensure specialized services align with the overall academic goals of the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Intervention Services:
    • Design and implement Tier 2 and Tier 3 academic interventions to support middle school scholars and ensure their success in the classroom.
    • Collaborate with general education teachers to adjust and align interventions for academic improvement.
    • Monitor the progress of scholars receiving interventions and adjust strategies as needed.
  2. Special Education & 504 Plan Oversight:
    • Ensure the proper development, implementation, and compliance of IEPs and 504 Plans.
    • Oversee special education services and provide guidance to Lead Special Education Teachers in delivering individualized instruction and accommodations.
    • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations for scholars.
  3. Leadership & Team Management:
    • Supervise and support Lead Special Education Teachers and the School Nurse, offering coaching and professional development opportunities.
    • Foster a collaborative culture among staff to ensure best practices for scholar intervention and support.
  4. Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Work closely with the school leadership team to ensure specialized services align with the overall academic goals of the school.
    • Build strong partnerships with families to ensure they are informed and involved in their child's intervention or special education plan.
  5. Data Management & Progress Monitoring:
    • Track academic and behavioral progress for scholars receiving Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions.
    • Use data-driven decision-making to adjust plans and improve academic and social-emotional outcomes for scholars.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in Special Education, Education Leadership, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in special education, academic intervention, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in managing and implementing Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions.
  • Knowledge of IEP and 504 processes, as well as compliance with IDEA and Section 504.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Preferred certifications: Gifted Education, Special Education, and/or Leadership certifications.
