Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Director of Therapeutic Recreation and Activities to join our team at the Glastonbury Center for Health & Rehabilitation. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will be responsible for developing and overseeing a vibrant and engaging activities program that promotes the overall well-being and happiness of our residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and oversee therapeutic recreation programs for residents that cater to their diverse needs and interests.
  • Collaborate with our interdisciplinary team to assess residents' needs and preferences, and provide leadership and guidance to the therapeutic recreation team.
  • Organize and facilitate a variety of opportunities for entertainment, exercise, relaxation, and expression that fulfill residents' basic psychological, social, and spiritual needs.
  • Create a warm and inclusive environment that encourages resident participation and engagement.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of programs and make adjustments as needed to ensure the highest quality of care.
  • Assist families of physically, emotionally, and cognitively impaired individuals to explore appropriate hobbies and leisure activities that promote their loved ones' well-being.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation or a related field.
  • Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) credential preferred.
  • Proven experience in developing and leading therapeutic recreation programs.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills, with excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Compassion and empathy in working with seniors, with a creative mindset and excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with team members, residents, and families to create a positive and inclusive environment.
