Your Role:

In the position of Traffic Design Specialist, you will:

  • Engage in a technical capacity under the guidance of a Project Manager, focusing on traffic design and analysis projects, including traffic signal design, pedestrian accessibility, pavement marking, and operational analysis.
  • Concentrate on traffic design elements such as accident analysis, mitigation strategies, signage, traffic signals, and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS).
  • Collaborate closely with Project Managers and design teams to develop Plans, Specifications, and Estimates (PS&E) for various state and local agencies.
  • Conduct traffic studies, including impact analyses and traffic signal timing plans, utilizing both microscopic and macroscopic simulation modeling.
  • Assess roadway safety, prepare evaluations for vulnerable users, and provide design recommendations aligned with community objectives.
  • Utilize various safety software tools to conduct thorough safety analyses.
  • Mentor and guide entry-level designers and engineers in their professional development.
  • Take on project management responsibilities and maintain client interactions as necessary.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in traffic design, particularly in preparing PS&E plans.
  • Familiarity with ADA requirements; knowledge of PROWAG is advantageous.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in traffic design and analysis.

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in traffic analysis and engineering/design.
  • Possession of a Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Hands-on experience with CAD platforms such as MicroStation and AutoCAD.
  • Proficiency in operational analysis using tools like HCS, Synchro, VISSIM, and Aimsun.
  • Experience with safety analysis software, including Highway Safety Software.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.
