Position Overview
The Contra Costa Health Department is actively seeking skilled professionals for the role of Advanced Respiratory Care Specialist. This position is essential in delivering high-quality respiratory care services across various healthcare settings, including acute care facilities and outpatient clinics.
Role Responsibilities:
- Administer respiratory therapy and life support interventions to patients.
- Conduct patient assessments to develop tailored respiratory care plans.
- Maintain and manage respiratory equipment, ensuring proper assembly and sanitation.
- Provide guidance and support to junior staff members as needed.
- May operate electrocardiograph machines on a temporary basis.
Unit Mission:
The Respiratory Care Services Unit is dedicated to enhancing community health, particularly for underserved populations. The unit is characterized by supportive leadership and offers comprehensive training opportunities for professional development.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Licensure: A valid Respiratory Care Practitioner license from the Respiratory Care Board of California.
- Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Experience: A minimum of two years of full-time experience as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in an acute care environment.
Additional Requirements:
For those working in acute care, a Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Provider Certificate is necessary. For roles in ambulatory care or health centers, additional certifications may be required, such as Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT) or Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (RPFT) credentials.
Selection Process:
The selection process includes an application review and evaluation of training and experience. Candidates who meet the minimum qualifications will be assessed based on their responses to supplemental questions.
