Job Overview

The City of Dover is in search of a dedicated individual to join the Facilities, Grounds & Cemeteries Division. This role involves executing skilled and semi-skilled tasks related to the ongoing maintenance and construction of recreational areas, buildings, and cemetery grounds.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and care for cemetery, park, and athletic field areas, including mowing, cleaning, and irrigation system upkeep.
  • Assist in the maintenance of municipal swimming pools, ensuring proper chemical levels and filtration system functionality.
  • Conduct minor interior building maintenance tasks, including painting, plumbing, and carpentry.
  • Perform custodial duties as assigned and routine maintenance on lawn and power equipment.
  • Plant and care for lawns, trees, shrubs, and flowers, including fertilization and pest control.
  • Ensure the collection and disposal of solid waste from facilities and grounds.
  • Support snow removal operations and assist in disaster response efforts.
  • Adhere to safe work practices associated with assigned tasks.
  • Carry out additional related duties as necessary.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Applicants should possess some knowledge of hand tools, construction, plumbing, and electrical techniques. The ability to perform manual labor in various weather conditions and follow both written and verbal instructions is essential.

Education and Certification Requirements:

A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with at least two years of experience in maintenance roles. Candidates must maintain a valid New Hampshire CDL B with Air Brake and Tanker Endorsements; CDL-A with endorsements is preferred.
