Job Description

The Anderson Company, a leading site development company with over 27 years of experience, is seeking a skilled Construction Estimator to join our team.

This is a full-time position that requires a high level of expertise in creating accurate excavation and sitework cost-based bids. The successful candidate will work closely with our project management team to ensure seamless project hand-offs and accounting integration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Bid Document Review: Thoroughly review all bid documents, plans, and specifications to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Estimate Preparation: Create detailed estimates, including strategy and bid item quantification, in accordance with project plans and specifications.
  • Subcontractor Management: Identify and engage with required subcontractors, ensuring their scope aligns with our bid strategy and needs.
  • Relationship Building: Develop and maintain strong relationships with material suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Customer Communication: Collaborate with customers to ensure bid alignment with RFP requirements.
  • Crew Cost Estimation: Estimate crew costs, including personnel, equipment, and daily expenses.
  • Production Estimation: Estimate production requirements and timelines.
  • Operations and Project Management: Incorporate operational and project management perspectives into estimates.
  • Review and Revision: Review estimates with senior estimators or vice presidents and revise as necessary.
  • Job Turnover: Prepare and distribute job turnover information to operations and project management teams.
  • Estimating Practices: Participate in the advancement of company estimating practices and adhere to internal standards.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent experience in construction estimating.
  • Skills: Proficiency in software such as AgteK, HeavyBid, Bluebeem, and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience: Sitework and/or heavy excavation experience.
  • Soft Skills: Strong collaboration, problem-solving, and communication skills.
