Job Title: Group Leader

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Group Leader to join our team at Making Opportunity Count Inc. As a Group Leader, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and supervising recreational and educational activities for children ages 5-12 years in the School Age classroom.

Responsibilities:
  • Plan and organize a variety of enriching age-appropriate program activities in accordance with Department of Early Education and Care Licensing and QRIS requirements.
  • Supervise children at all times and exercise appropriate supervision to ensure their safety.
  • Be flexible and able to adjust to changing demands of the children.
  • Assist children with homework assignments to support academic progress.
  • Prepare necessary reports/forms as required by School Age Coordinator.
  • Responsible for the daily safety check of School Age building and other relevant areas.
  • Assist in housekeeping tasks, food preparation, and grocery shopping.
  • Inform School Age Coordinator of supplies and equipment needed by the Program.
  • Plan and implement daily activities for the group in his/her charge.
  • Observe and record children's progress, prepare progress reports, and meet with parents to discuss progress and goals.
  • Responsible for giving guidance and direction to subs and volunteers.
  • Attend team meetings to discuss and review building, staffing, and children/families.
  • Make appropriate decisions to handle emergency situations or unscheduled events.
  • Work cooperatively to maintain professional relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and other staff.
  • Interpret the program to the public in cooperation with other staff.
  • Assume responsibility to work independently and meet program time lines.
  • Comply with the CC&HS Abuse and Neglect procedures.
  • Participate in at least 20 hours of training per year to comply with EEC and QRIS standards.
  • Enter all training/course work into Professional Qualification (P.Q.) registry.
  • Enter child information, attendance, and case notes in the program data management system.
  • Check and respond to Agency email on a regular basis.
Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Must have at least one year's experience in working with School Age children.
  • Must have GED or High School diploma.
  • Access to reliable transportation.
  • Must have demonstrated knowledge of children's needs for ages 6-12 years.
  • Counseling techniques, recreational activities, and educational resources.
  • Dependable and Flexible.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work with other adults and children.
  • Willingness to attend job-related trainings.
  • Ability to follow directions.
  • Exhibit cultural sensitivity.
  • Possess reliable transportation.
  • Fulfillment of all specific health and safety requirements.
  • Must have a suitable background record check.
  • Must be in good physical and mental health and be able to lift children and/or work-related equipment.
