Position Overview

Part-time Registered Nurse in Intermediate ICU, Night Shift (7 PM - 7 AM)

The RN Clinical Nurse in Critical Care plays a vital role within a collaborative team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers, ensuring that patients, families, and significant others receive personalized, high-quality, and safe care. This position operates within a clinical environment led by Nurse Managers and supported by the Wellstar Shared Governance Model. The practice framework is guided by the Wellstar Professional Practice Model, emphasizing evidence-based practice and research. RN competencies are aligned with these models and reflect the Wellstar Values.

As a member of the patient services team, the RN Clinical Nurse is expected to be licensed, knowledgeable, and uphold the standards of nursing practice as defined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act, while implementing the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics established by the American Nurses Association.

  • Execute the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation) in delivering clinical care, utilizing evidence-based practices and critical thinking to ensure individualized care.
  • Provide relationship-centered, patient-focused care that considers specific population characteristics (e.g., age, gender, health conditions) and adapts service delivery to reflect cultural diversity.
  • Collaborate with patients and their significant others, utilizing appropriate communication methods (e.g., bedside shift report, interdisciplinary rounds) to keep them informed and focused on their care goals.
  • Adhere to current clinical practice standards while fostering teamwork and collaboration.
  • Ensure the delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care that supports the professional care delivery model, including diverse interdisciplinary communication methods and timely documentation.
  • Demonstrate teamwork by practicing in a fiscally responsible manner that promotes the recruitment and retention of healthcare team members.
  • Engage in performance improvement initiatives, supporting research and promoting safe, quality patient care through active participation in shared governance.
  • Complete all initial and ongoing professional competency assessments and required education.
  • Serve as a mentor or preceptor for other nursing professionals and students, fostering a qualified workforce and a healthy work environment.
  • Advocate for evidence-based practice and nursing research, participating in value analysis and decision-making processes regarding patient care products.
  • Uphold all healthcare system policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards.
  • Participate in data collection and engage with experts to address clinical practice questions.
  • Plan proactively for patient care across the continuum while providing direct care.
  • Collaborate in developing protocols and procedures to achieve optimal practice outcomes.
  • Support the efficient use of human and material resources.

Required Minimum Education

Associate's Degree from an accredited nursing program is required; a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.

Required Licenses and Certifications

All certifications must be obtained upon hire unless otherwise specified:
  • Registered Nurse (Single State) or RN - Multi-state Compact
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - Instructor
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - Instructor or ACLS - Provisional

Experience and Skills

A minimum of 2 years of direct patient nursing experience is required. Candidates must possess:
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English, with basic computer skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills, along with excellent customer service abilities.
  • The capacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment and respond effectively to emergencies.
  • Exceptional time management skills.
  • Evidence-based practice and analytical skills, complemented by strong critical thinking abilities.
