Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain complex water treatment plants, including ozone, ion exchange, and granular activated carbon treatment systems.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable Florida Administrative Codes, laws, rules, standards, and permit requirements.
  • Perform daily laboratory, field analyses, and routine calibrations for water purification treatment processes.
  • Supervise and train operators in the use of new equipment and procedures.
  • Prepare and submit all required reports to EPA, Florida Department of Environmental Protection, and St. John's Water Management District.
  • Oversee general maintenance tasks necessary to keep water treatment plant facilities in compliance.
  • Respond to emergencies and perform after-hours standby duties as needed.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required; 5+ years of experience in water treatment plant operations, equipment maintenance, regulatory compliance, and reporting.
  • Valid Class "B" Water Plant Operator's license issued by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
  • Experience working on and with ozone, GAC, or ion exchange systems preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, make sound decisions, and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff, management, and external stakeholders.
