Maintenance Mechanic Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to join our team at Minerals Technologies Inc. (MTI). As a Maintenance Mechanic, you will be responsible for maintaining all aspects of plant mechanical equipment, conducting preventive maintenance and repairs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Reads and interprets equipment manuals, work orders, blueprints, building drawings, and electrical schematics to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Inspects, diagnoses and troubleshoots plant and mobile equipment/system problems.
  • Performs mechanic skills including, but not limited to, welding, cutting, lubrication, repair power transmission equipment, millwrighting, pneumatics, hydraulics, rigging, and basic electrical skills to troubleshoot and repair plant and mobile equipment/systems as needed.
  • Provides scheduled and emergency/unscheduled repairs of plant and mobile equipment/systems.
  • Communicates with employees/management to obtain/provide information regarding equipment/system issues as needed.
  • Records pertinent labor information from work shift.
Requirements:
  • Ability to speak and read English, and mechanical/electrical skills are required.
  • Knowledge of computers and industrial equipment/systems is preferred.
  • Three to five years experience in an industrial environment preferred.
Working Conditions:

While performing the duties of this job, an employee is typically exposed to dust, loud noise, high places, confined spaces, very low and/or bright light, and outside weather conditions.

Primarily works alone but may work as part of a team working in close proximity to others and works in close proximity with equipment.

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent required. Formal trade training preferred.

Licensing:

A valid driver's license is preferred.
