Responsibilities include managing high-risk medication processes as defined by the organization, authorized by a physician, and supervised by a licensed Pharmacist.
Tasks also involve delivering and exchanging medications to the appropriate patient areas and returning unused medications to the pharmacy.
Documentation of pharmaceutical activities, including patient billing for medications and equipment, quality control requirements, and ensuring data accuracy is essential.
Responding to and triaging customer requests for pharmacy services such as medication delivery and drug information is a key part of this role.
Operating and supporting automated dispensing technology to ensure accurate medication supply for individual patients, in accordance with pharmacist and physician orders, is required.
Responsibilities also include ordering, receiving, restocking, and rotating inventory, as well as managing expiration dates.
Assisting in the training of new staff members and educating them on job-specific functions is expected.
Contributing to process improvement initiatives is encouraged.
Completing regulatory compliance inspections of medication storage areas, including inspections and/or controlled substance inventories, USP797, and other required regulatory documentation is necessary.
Completion of an academic pharmacy technician training program is preferred.
Registration with the NC Board of Pharmacy is required unless enrolled in a PharmD program.
- Prior experience as a pharmacy technician is preferred.
