Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team at Samaritan Recovery Community. As a key member of our clinical staff, you will provide individual, group, and family counseling services to adults struggling with addiction or co-occurring disorders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individual, group, and family counseling services to a caseload of chemically dependent adults and those with co-occurring disorders.
  • Maintain effective relationships with community referral sources, hospitals, law enforcement, and emergency personnel to enhance our working relationships and publicize our program.
  • Assess and support clients for admission to our Intensive Residential (IR) program and facilitate transfers to other levels of care as needed.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans, progress notes, and other documentation in accordance with agency standards.
  • Participate in weekly supervision, submit casework materials for review, and seek consultation from supervisors or colleagues as needed.
  • Provide verbal feedback and chart documentation regarding significant interactions or interventions with clients.
  • Participate in clinical and administrative staff meetings, quality assurance committees, and utilization review studies.
  • Initiate referrals for further evaluation or testing as indicated by individual client needs.
  • Provide client referrals for vocational, employment, and other support services to achieve treatment plan goals.
  • Participate in training, professional development, and affiliations to advance our mission and goals.
Requirements:
  • State of Tennessee Licensed Social Worker or license in a behavioral health-related field, or State of Tennessee LADAC license or eligibility (in process), with a minimum of one year of experience working with clients with substance abuse diagnoses.
  • Familiarity with community resources and ability to make appropriate referrals.
  • Good chart documentation, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Training and experience with co-occurring disorders preferred.
