Job Overview

Adecco Healthcare and Life Sciences is collaborating with a local organization to find a Laboratory Support Technician. This role is essential for maintaining the efficiency of laboratory operations.

  • Location: Baltimore, MD
  • Contract Duration: 3 months
  • Compensation: $19 - $24 per hour

Position Summary:

Under the guidance of a supervisor, the Laboratory Support Technician will assist medical technologists by executing routine laboratory tasks and conducting approved tests in line with established laboratory protocols and regulatory standards. Responsibilities include receiving test samples, entering data into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), and processing specimens according to set procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive and verify specimens for testing adequacy.
  • Accurately input data into the LIMS from accompanying documentation.
  • Label specimens with barcodes post data entry.
  • Prepare specimens for testing through necessary processing steps such as centrifugation and mixing.
  • Maintain quality assurance logs to document any issues with specimens.
  • Conduct and document required instrument maintenance and calibrations.
  • Ensure quality control measures are met before testing.
  • Engage in annual continuing education and document participation.
  • Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures for all testing.
  • Manage supplies, dispose of medical waste, and maintain cleanliness in the laboratory.
  • Participate in projects or committees as directed by the Technical Supervisor or Lab Manager.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the laboratory director or manager.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent with relevant training or experience in a medical laboratory setting.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Basic computer proficiency and data entry skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Excellent multitasking and time management abilities.
  • Problem-solving skills to address operational issues.
