About the Role

Ochsner Health is seeking a highly skilled Research Scientist to join our team as a Microbial Disease Investigator. As a key member of our research team, you will be responsible for developing and executing independent research projects focused on microbial disease in a clinical setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute independent research projects in microbial disease, with a focus on antimicrobial resistance and rapid diagnostic testing.
  • Collaborate with clinicians to support existing studies and develop new research initiatives.
  • Conduct complex technical analyses and data interpretation to inform research findings.
  • Pursue scholarly research and publication in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Develop and submit grant proposals to secure funding for research projects.
  • Train and mentor laboratory staff and clinical research coordinators.
  • Direct and lead research programs, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in biological science or related field.
  • Track record of publications and completed post-doctoral training.
  • 5 years of relevant professional-level experience.
  • Preferred: PhD in biological science or related field, or MD/DO.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Nationally recognized informatics certification or membership to a national society.
