RESPONSIBILITIES

Weatherford is seeking a Mechanical Lab Technician for our Research & Development facility.

Day Shift

Shifts are scheduled between 5am - 5pm, with weekends worked based on testing requirements.

Work both independently and collaboratively to set up, assemble, and execute test programs for various oilfield completion tools, ensuring compliance with industry standards or engineering specifications. Maintain testing apparatus through regular maintenance and ensure cleanliness in lab and testing environments. Provide assistance to engineering teams as necessary to achieve their testing objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Understand and adhere to Weatherford's enterprise excellence program and quality policy, complying with all requirements of the quality systems manual, operational and technical procedures, and workplace instructions.
  • Ensure equipment is maintained in optimal working condition.
  • Gather test components, equipment, and prepare tests using overhead hoists and/or forklifts.
  • Conduct and manage inventory of test components and equipment.
  • Operate testing equipment (Triplex Pump, Centrifugal Pumps, Flow Systems, Nitrogen Boosters, Hydraulic Pumps, Forced-Air High-Temp Heater Systems, Manual and Pneumatic Valves, etc.)
  • Finalize test setups and store equipment appropriately.
  • Maintain the appearance of the office, lab, and facility grounds.
  • Comply with all safety regulations and company policies of Weatherford.
  • Execute work assignments to the highest quality standards.
  • Perform various other duties and tasks as assigned by supervisor within the physical constraints of the job.
  • Train and mentor less experienced staff.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 2-4 years of experience in Oilfield or Laboratory Environments.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience operating material handling equipment (Forklift, Overhead Hoist, Scissor Lift, etc.)
  • Proficiency in using hand tools (Pipe Wrench, Adjustable Wrench, Screwdriver, Measuring Tape, etc.)
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Capability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to follow verbal instructions.
  • Capacity to physically respond to emergency situations.
  • Proficiency in reading and understanding drawings/prints and tool layouts.
