About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Dynamic Material Response Experiment Lead to join our team at Arcfield. As a key member of our system hardening technology research group, you will be responsible for planning, designing, and executing dynamic material response experiments to advance our understanding of material behavior under various loading conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Experiment Planning and Execution: Plan, design, and coordinate dynamic material response experiments to meet program requirements and technical objectives.
  • Technical Leadership: Guide the development of testing approaches and supervise the execution of detailed test plans.
  • Instrumentation and Data Analysis: Assist in the development of new instrumentation and post-processing methodologies, including quantification of uncertainties.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with cross-functional teams to develop and execute experiments, and prepare technical reports and presentations to communicate results effectively.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: A BS degree in Physics or Engineering and 8 – 10 years of related experience; an MS degree and 6 – 8 years of related experience; or a PhD and 3 – 5 years of related experience.
  • Technical Expertise: Experience with designing and performing physics/engineering experiments, solid mechanics or continuum mechanics, and at least one of the following: designing and/or fielding shock physics experiments, pulsed-power facilities, laser matter interaction testing and/or analysis, hydrocode / shock physics theory, simulations, and software, or radiation transport simulations and software.
  • Programming Skills: Experience with programming languages such as Python, Fortran, or C++.
  • Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced Degree: A PhD in Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering, Applied Mechanics, Applied Physics, or related field.
  • Leadership and Communication Skills: Demonstrated ability to meet milestones and deadlines, work independently as well as part of a team, and prepare technical reports and presentations that effectively communicate methods and results.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Compensation and Benefits

Arcfield offers a competitive salary range of $98,448.57 to $236,570.45, depending on experience and qualifications. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, life insurance, paid time off, holiday pay, short-term and long-term disability, retirement and savings, learning and development opportunities, and wellness programs.
