Job Summary

The Phlebotomist II plays a vital role in the healthcare team by collecting and processing high-quality blood specimens. This position requires attention to detail, effective communication, and a commitment to delivering accurate diagnostic results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect high-quality blood specimens and maintain iSTAT competency for quality Point-of-Care (POC) testing.
  • Ensure precise patient identification to prevent errors in transfusions and diagnostic tests.
  • Facilitate effective communication during shift transitions to reduce the risk of errors or omissions.
  • Maintain supplies, including phlebotomy baskets, carts, workspace, and electronic/telecommunication devices.
  • Utilize lab/hospital systems for accurate documentation, including collection lists, pending logs, un-received reports, and labels.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Completion of Accredited Phlebotomy program.
  • Preferred: 6 months relevant medical or laboratory experience.
  • Required: BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
  • Required: Current Phlebotomy certification from one of the following approved agencies: ASCP (American Society for Clinical Pathology), ASPT (American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians), or NHA (National Healthcareer Association).
