Medical Assistant Specialist

The Certified Clinical Assistant - Medical performs a variety of clinical and clerical duties necessary for patient care at St. Claire Regional Medical Center.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conducts point-of-care skills such as phlebotomy, prepares specimens for transport, and in-clinic lab testing to ensure accurate patient results.
• Executes clinical procedures as permitted by certification and assigned tasks.
• Prepares and administers medications to patients under the guidance of medical professionals.
• Transcribes orders accurately and completely to avoid medical errors.
• Provides patient/family education on health conditions, treatment options, and self-care practices.
• Participates in the clinic patient registration and check-out process, scheduling outpatient diagnostic testing after obtaining pre-authorizations and precertifications as necessary.
• Maintains and communicates accurate provider schedules and patient appointments to ensure seamless care coordination.
• Maintains accurate and up-to-date medical records and documentation in a timely manner.
• Responds to medication refill requests and EMR workload messages promptly to include medication pre-authorization process as deemed necessary.
Requirements:
Graduate from a Medical Assisting program is required for this role.
Preferred Experience:
Previous nursing/clinical experience in a physician's office practice is preferred but not required.
Licensure/Certification:
Certification in Medical Assisting is required for this position.
