Job Description

At Michaelis Corporation, we are seeking a skilled Reconstruction Estimator to join our team in Indianapolis, Indiana. As a Reconstruction Estimator, you will be responsible for estimating and managing all facets of reconstruction, including water damage, storm damage, fire damage, smoke and odor damage, mold remediation, and remodel projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct detailed on-site inspections to assess damages from water, storm damage, fire, smoke, odor, mold, and other related restoration needs.
  • Prepare accurate and comprehensive estimates using Xactimate for both emergency mitigation and full reconstruction projects.
  • Develop and document thorough scopes of work, ensuring all phases of restoration, from mitigation to reconstruction, are covered and appropriately detailed for insurance claims.
  • Collaborate with insurance adjusters to obtain approvals for estimates to return the property to pre-loss condition.
  • Coordinate closely with internal teams and subcontractors to manage the seamless execution of projects from emergency services through to reconstruction and put-back.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by clearly communicating the scope of work, timelines, and expectations to clients throughout the project.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring they stay within budget, scope, and timeline.
  • Stay updated on industry standards, certifications, and best practices related to restoration, mitigation, and reconstruction.
  • Ensure all project documentation, including photos and client communications, are accurately maintained within the company's CRM and job management systems.

Requirements:

  • Xactimate experience required: Proven ability to prepare accurate estimates for water, storm damage, fire, smoke, mold, and reconstruction projects.
  • IICRC Certifications preferred: Water Restoration Technician (WRT), Fire and Smoke Restoration Technician (FSRT), and Mold Remediation.
  • Demonstrated experience in both mitigation and full structural put-back services.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to travel to job sites.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with building codes, construction practices, and restoration standards.
  • Experience in sales or customer-facing roles within the restoration or construction industry.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities.

  • Competitive base salary with performance-based commissions ($75k-$115k+ total earnings).

Work Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday, with weekend availability as needed.

Experience:

  • Xactimate: 3 years (Required)
  • Reconstruction estimating for water, storm damage, fire, mold, and structural repair: 5 years (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • IICRC Certification (Preferred)
  • Driver's License (Required)

Location: Indianapolis, IN (Relocation before starting is required if applicable)
