Genetic Counselor

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Genetic Counselor to join our team at Montefiore Medical Center. The successful candidate will have a Master's degree in Human Genetics and Board certification by the American College of Genetic Counseling.
Responsibilities:
- Explain the nature of genetic evaluation to patients and their families.
- Obtain and review medical and family histories, and document the family history using standard pedigree nomenclature.
- Assess results through continuous discussions with junior counselors, medical students, residents, and fellows.
- Oversee the progress of students and junior staff members.
- Plan, organize, and conduct public and professional education programs on medical genetics, patient care, and genetic counseling issues.
Requirements:
- Masters of Science Degree in Human Genetics.
- Board certification by the American College of Genetic Counseling.
- Ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team.
