Job Title: Music Therapist
The Music Therapist is a vital member of our healthcare team, responsible for designing, coordinating, and implementing innovative music therapy programs for individuals in emotional distress. This role requires a deep understanding of music therapy principles and theories, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities:
1. Patient Care
- Develop and implement music therapy programs that integrate music media, theory, and performance skills to promote mental health and well-being.
- Assess patient needs and evaluate functioning, considering patients' overall skills, deficits, and levels of motivation.
- Develop therapeutic relationships with patients, providing care that considers patient safety, comfort, and therapeutic environment.
- Monitor patient behavior, symptoms, and reactions, and report pertinent information to appropriate personnel.
2. Collaboration and Partnership
- Manage assigned case load and conduct sessions in a timely manner, within the parameters of music therapy and departmental policies.
- Provide assistance in covering weekend, evening, and holiday functions, and maintain flexibility in adapting to schedule changes.
- Develop effective working relationships with team members, participating in treatment team meetings and educational programs.
- Supervise students, peers, and others as assigned, in accordance with hospital, departmental, and school policies.
3. Quality and Regulatory
- Contribute to departmental and hospital Performance Initiatives, expanding and developing programs and services according to departmental and hospital plans.
- Observe and adhere to all departmental and hospital policies and procedures, and standards of safety, quality, and infection control.
- Meet all hospital and continuing education requirements, promoting the quality and efficiency of own performance through participation in staff educational programs.
Qualifications:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Music Therapy
Licensure: Board Certified Registered Music Therapist or Eligible; BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification
